LCA "Orange Out" For Cash

Tonight, we honor the life and legacy of Cash Gaudio, who graduated from LCA in 2024. Cash attended LCA from 2nd through 6th grades and ultimately returned for his senior year after playing basketball for two years at Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy. Cash decided he wanted to spend his senior year with old friends and graduate from LCA.

Due to transfer rules, Cash could not play sports at LCA. True to his positive attitude and enthusiasm, he decided to fully dedicate himself to supporting his friends and LCA athletics from the student spirit section. Cash arrived hours early for every football game to get the prime seat, and could always be spotted front and center, fully decked out in that night’s theme.

Tragically, Cash was killed almost a year ago in a brutal act of violence. In their unfathomable shock and anguish, his family was compelled to keep Cash’s legacy and memory alive and created the Live Like Cash Gaudio Foundation. The foundation exists to provide scholarships to student athletes in need who share Cash’s values, character, and love for Jesus. The foundation has raised over 100k to date and has awarded 5 scholarships. The ultimate goal of the foundation is to remind everyone to Live Like Cash, loving others unconditionally, living joyfully, and seeking God. Cash’s life verse is Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Cash sought Jesus every single day.

Tonight’s theme is Orange Out for Cash. Orange is the color chosen to represent the foundation because Cash’s goal was to transfer to UVA, and he was just a month into pursuing that. In honor of the indelible mark Cash left on every person he met, and his commitment to supporting LCA athletics, we are proud to present the first annual Live Like Cash Gaudio Student Spirit Leader Award. On the field for the presentation are Cash’s mom and stepdad, Shannon Meyers and Jeff Meyers, and his little brother Reese. Cash’s dad, Micah Gaudio and Ceara Quintana, and Cash’s maternal grandparents, Wayne and Linda Wolfe. Cash’s sister, McKenna-Kate Gaudio wanted to be here but had to remain in Richmond for work.
