Two years ago, on September 30, 2024, we lost Cash.
Last year, so many of you posted your favorite memory of him. We read every one. We saved every one. They carried us.
This year, the Gaudio family and the Live Like Cash Gaudio Foundation are asking for something different. Instead of posting a memory of Cash, we're asking you to live like Cash for one day, in the most literal way we know how: download the image that was on his phone, make it your lock screen, and look at it every time you pick your phone up.
Here's why.
The Story
The week before Christmas 2024, we got Cash's things back.
Everything he had with him that day came home wrapped in brown paper, the way a butcher wraps a piece of meat. His clothes. His wallet. His keys. And his phone, still covered in his blood.
While his mother, stepdad, and grandparents watched, his dad and his sister unwrapped it at the dining room table of the house where Cash was killed, just outside in the driveway. They pressed the button and the screen lit up.
The first thing they saw was this.
Jesus Christ, head bowed, wearing the crown of thorns. Blood running down His face.
Nobody at that table could breathe. Because everyone understood what it meant. After he was shot, Cash picked up that phone and called his mother and told her to call an ambulance. To do that, he had to look at that screen. The last image our 19-year-old son saw on this earth was his Savior, bleeding for him.
Think about that for a second. Cash was nineteen. He could have put anything on that phone. A girl. A truck. A sunset. He chose the Cross. He chose to be reminded of what Jesus paid for him every single time he unlocked his phone, which for a 19-year-old is a few hundred times a day.
That's what it means to live like Cash. Not perfect. Just pointed at Jesus, over and over, all day long.
The Ask
On September 30, we're asking you to do three things.
Download the screensaver. It's free. It's below. Pick the size for your phone and set it as your lock screen (instructions are further down if you need them).
Keep it there all day. Every time you reach for your phone, let it interrupt you the way it must have interrupted Cash. Say a quick prayer. Say his name. Thank God for the Cross.
Post it and tag us. Take a screenshot of your lock screen, or a photo of your phone, and share it to your Story or your feed. Tag @LiveLikeCashGaudio on Instagram or Facebook and use #LiveLikeCashGaudio so we can see it. We'll be resharing every single one we're tagged in on September 30.
We'd love to see this image on a thousand phones that day. We'd love for a thousand people to be reminded, a few hundred times each, of what Jesus did for them. That's the kind of memorial Cash would actually want.

How to Set It as Your Lock Screen
- Download the image. It will save to your Photos.
- Open Photos, open the image, and tap the Share button (the box with the arrow).
- Scroll down and tap Use as Wallpaper.
- Pinch the image if you need to adjust it so the crown sits below the clock. Tap Add, then Set as Lock Screen (or Set as Wallpaper Pair to use it on both screens).

Cash's grandfather baptized him in the Gulf of Mexico. Through his life and his death we've seen at least eight people give their lives to Christ, relationships that were broken get restored, and a whole community reminded that life is precious and short.
He's with Jesus now. The One on the screen.
